Base & Shade are 30.5" tall, Shade is 8" diameter.

I got the main shaft of this white base at the Oakland Museum White Elephant sale. I picked it up, even though there was a small crack in it, which I broke off and re-glued, then covered in silver. This is a practice called "kintsukuroi," which is to repair with gold or silver and to realize that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken. I really liked that piece of glass, it was a weird shape I hadn't worked with before, so I figured what the hey! Ceramic artist James Aarons made the foot for it and the all white shade just seemed the natural choice. This piece is really amazing, but a weirdo, and the weirdo it belongs to will love everything about it. (By the way, people don't use the term "weirdo" enough, in my opinion.)
