Base & Shade are 20" tall, Shade is 10" diameter.

There is a greenhouse on our Sierra foothills property, which elicited a lot of humorous speculation about how we might use it when we first arrived.  Turns out it was built by an elderly couple who raised orchids within. The base on this lamp is made from a metal vase that we found inside. If you look close you can see a small crack, which has been filled with industrial-strength epoxy and sprinkled with gold dust in a nod to Japanese kintsukuroi. The vase is on a piece of marble rescued from another lamp, with small legs made out of glass bugle beads.

The nature of the base inspired a shade of mostly white paper scraps with slivers of colored ink from larger screen prints.

All "Empire" lamps include new sockets, plugs and wiring.
