Dancing on Glass
Dancing on Glass
Base & Shade are 16" tall, Shade is 10" diameter.
I found two of these little glass lamps at the Alemany flea market and decided to take the best parts of both to reproduce one of the lamps. Parts from the other are in my pile of lamp shapes awaiting transformation.
The shade includes a pattern made by repeating the visualization of Bumps chart of the Oxford University Torpids from Edward Tufte's classic book Envisioning Information, alongside a close up of brushstrokes from a series of small painting my partner made about a decade back and an illustration of leaves from I don't remember where. Stitching in earlier lamps was very curvy, but in this one they got super straight, for some reason.
As with all lamps in the "Empire," sockets and wiring are all new.
